I use they/them pronouns and I’m a designer pursing a B.S. in Computational Media with a focus in People and Interaction Design at Georgia Tech while trying to unlock the secrets of UI/UX design!
I aim to iterate as many times as it takes and with as much user input as possible to create accessible designs that I can truly say were designed with the user in mind.
My Design Journey
Entering college, As a third-year Computational Media major, I often say that I’m an art major at a tech school.
Funnily enough, I started out as an architecture major, and while I was good at it (see the award I got!), I just didn't have a passion for designing buildings. My time as an architecture while a bit hectic did give me three design philosophies that influence my design work today!
Design Philosophies
If you've iterated once or twice, go iterate a while lot more
Within my design work you’ll find many iterations, sometimes with very minute differences between them as I try to explore the many directions a design could go. While seemingly excessive I find that by doing so I get a better understanding of why I'm making the choices I make which brings me to my second philosophy!
Design choices are only as strong as your ability to defend them (but it's okay to be proven wrong)
With any of my design choices you'll find (or be able to find through a quick chat with me) a rationale behind all of my final decisions, but don't worry I'm still always willing to listen to others' rationales and improve my designs accordingly!
Design with accessibility in mind, because not everyone will
I may not know everything there is to know about creating accessible designs, but I'm always trying to learn more and advocate so that more people can get the chance to interact with the designs in our world!
Outside of Designing…
You can still find me designing! When I’m not designing for school, I’m designing marketing materials for various campus organizations I’m a part of, such as DramaTech Theatre, my school’s student-run theatre organization, or Bits of Good, a social good organization that connects students with local nonprofits.
And if I’m not designing for an organization, I’m making art for fun, or planning the best way to color coordinate my next outfit.
